TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS) is a Semi-Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications established on July 1, 2000 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania Mainland’s Trunk and Regional Roads Network. Its primary functions include the Management of Maintenance and Development Works, Operations of the Network and Axle Load Control, The Implementation of Road Safety and Environmental Measures, Provision of Advice of the strategic framework, policies and plans for the road sector.

Regional Manager, TANROADS – TANGA is looking for suitable qualified Tanzania candidates to fill the following posts at weighbridge stations in the Region. In so doing, interested candidates are requested to apply for he posts listed below;

1:            POSITION TITLE:               SHIFT IN-CHARGE – (4 POSTS)


  1. Key qualifications for the Shift In-charge;

  2. Holder of 1st Degree in any profession;

  3. Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);

  4. Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English language;

  5. Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;

  6. Must be between 35 and 40 years of age


 

  1. Duties and Responsibilities of Shift In-charge


 

  • Supervises Weighing of Motor Vehicles of Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) ≥ 3.500kg plying on our


Public roads;

  • Imposes road damage fees on the spot if the vehicle is found overloaded

  • Measures physical dimensions of motor vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle, and


in case of non-compliance with vehicles dimension limits, the transporter should be caused to seek for a special permit;

  • Ascertains compliance to the permit, for the trucks carrying abnormal load with special permit identified by weighbridge Operators;

  • Ensures all necessary particulars are recorded by weighbridge Operators regarding the motor


vehicle weighed;

  • Observes good customer care, dignity and integrity given to all stakeholders;

  • Overall supervision of shift activities

  • Reports all matters to the Regional Manager

  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Superior.


II:             POSITION TITLE:              WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATORS (4 POSTS)

A:             Key qualifications for the Weighbridge Operator;

  1. Holder of full Technician Certificate or Diploma in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (FTC),

  2. Must be Computer literate (at least  Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);

  3. Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;

  4. Must be a Tanzania Citizen;

  5. Not above 35 years of age


B:             Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Enforces Roads Traffic Axle Load Control by the use of Weighbridge scale devices;

  2. Carries out activities as described in the Road Traffic (maximum weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 which include the following:

  3. Weighs Motor Vehicles Goss Vehicle Weight (GVW) > 3.500kg plying on our public Roads;

  4. Imposes road damage fees on the spot for overloaded motor vehicles;

  5. Measures physical dimensions of motor vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle for determining compliance or non-compliance with vehicle dimension limits by the transporter for provision of relevant advice;

  6. Records all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed;

  7. Observes good customer care, dignity and integrity;

  8. Reports all matters of the respective shift to the Shift In-charge;

  9. Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.


III:            POSITION TITLE:              WEIGHBRIDGE COLLECTORS (3 POSTS)

  1. Key qualifications

  2. Holder of Ordinary Diploma in Accounts of Finance

  3. Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);

  4. Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;

  5. Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;

  6. Not above 35 years of age


 

  1. Duties and Responsibilities


 

  1. Collects and banks all Weighbridge charges (fees) according to weighbridge report form;

  2. Seeks current USD exchange rates issued by Bank of Tanzania for case of imposing charges to be equivalent to Tanzania Shillings;

  3. Fills-in all records timely;

  4. Maintains asset register;

  5. Observes good customer care, dignity and integrity;

  6. Reports all matters to the Shift In-charge;

  7. Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the superior


IV:            POSITION TITLE:              DRIVER (1 Post)

  1. Key qualifications

  2. Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education

  3. Holder of Driving license class C

  4. Must have Trade Test Grade Two Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or above

  5. Must be a Tanzania Citizen

  6. Not above 35 years of age


 

  1. Duties and Responsibilities


 

  1. Maintains vehicle log book

  2. Keeps vehicle in good working order and in clean condition

  3. Reports repair and maintenance needs of the vehicle to the shift in-charge

  4. Observes good customer care, dignity and integrity

  5. Performs any other duties that will assigned time to time by the superior


Terms of Service

  • Employment on contract basis renewable basing on individual performance and good behavior

  • Salary will be paid according to TANROADS salary scale

  • Application who is currently employed in the public service is strictly discouraged to apply

  • Application who previously worked in any weighbridge station in Tanzania and terminated the employment on disciplinary grounds is discouraged to apply
