They are currently seeking an Environmental Advisor to coordinate contractorsโ€™ environmental activities during pipeline construction โ€” ensuring compliance with company commitments and international best practices.

๐ŸŽ“ Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree (Environmental or related field)
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of environmental experience in the construction industry (pipeline experience preferred)
  • Language: Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
  • Field Knowledge:
    • Environmental management in construction
    • Familiarity with international ESIAs and IFC environmental & social performance standards
    • Experience in Uganda or Tanzania preferred
  • Technical Competence:
    • Understanding of environmental management controls in pipeline projects
    • Watercourse/wetland crossings, topsoil conservation, and compliance enforcement
  • Physical Ability: Able to work in challenging terrains and hot or rainy field conditions
  • Reporting: Skilled in concise daily, weekly, and monthly reporting

โš™๏ธ Key Responsibilities

The Environmental Advisor will report to the Company Site Representative and collaborate closely with the Lot Environmental Lead/Supervisor. Key duties include:

  • Inspecting construction field activities to ensure environmental best practices are implemented.
  • Monitoring daily contractor operations for compliance with ESIA commitments, permits, and mitigation plans.
  • Advising site and construction teams on compliance requirements and corrective actions.
  • Reporting non-compliance issues and following up on corrective measures.
  • Liaising with Environmental Supervisors to resolve environmental concerns.
  • Preparing detailed daily inspection reports (including photos).
  • Supporting and participating in internal environmental audits.
  • Coordinating contractor actions to meet environmental commitments.

  • Coordinate contractors to deliver on environmental compliance goals.
  • Manage non-compliance cases by initiating corrective actions in collaboration with management.
