BRAC Enterprises Tanzania Limited (BETL) is a social enterprise launched in 2020 by BRAC International to deliver innovative, market-based solutions to development challenges in Tanzania. Its flagship initiative, the Angaza Academy model, provides scalable early childhood education (ECE) solutions for low-income urban and peri-urban families. BETL aims to create financially sustainable, high-quality learning environments while generating lasting social impact.


Job Summary

This internship is ideal for a motivated, tech-savvy individual with interests in digital innovation, operations, and social impact. The role focuses on supporting day-to-day tasks, improving systems, and ensuring workflows enable high performance while remaining legally and ethically compliant, especially around data privacy and child protection.


Key Responsibilities

Review & Strengthen Tech Solutions

  • Assess existing apps and tools for efficiency and benchmark alternatives.
  • Prototype simple, scalable digital solutions (spreadsheets, templates, lightweight platforms).

Streamline Systems & Support Functions

  • Document, map, and simplify workflows for training, finance tracking, affiliate communication, safeguarding, and central support functions.
  • Design tools to reduce duplication, minimize errors, and ease adoption.

Data Management & Decision Support

  • Collect, clean, integrate, and analyze data for tools such as Skills Development Tool, BEQI, and finance trackers.
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian data protection laws, including the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), 2022.

Affiliate & Staff Engagement

  • Support affiliates and staff in using new systems and protocols.
  • Collect user feedback and iterate systems for usability improvements.
  • Assist in documentation, reporting, and cross-team coordination.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Embed child protection and safeguarding requirements in all systems and processes.
  • Monitor and document compliance with BETL’s safeguarding policies.
  • Assist in staff and affiliate training on protocols and reporting procedures.

Other Potential Tasks

  • Update day care centre locations on Google Maps.
  • Explore GIS-based solutions for data-driven site selection.

Required Skills / Capacity

  • Recent graduate in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field with focus on tech-enabled operations.
  • Strong interest in technology, operations, and social impact.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of digital tools or apps; user support experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn in a startup-like environment.
