Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km from Mwanza City and 20 km southeast of Lake Victoria. The company has its main office and operations in Geita, only 5 km west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Manage the geographical areas divided into sectors for effective reaction to alarms and incidents to ensure the safeguarding (prevention, detection, apprehension, protection) of the company’s assets — both life and property.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ordinary Level Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) or above.
  • Knowledge in gun handling will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of operational security duties in the mining environment, preferably at Geita Gold Mine (GGM).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • No criminal record.
  • Clean disciplinary record.
  • Unquestionable integrity.
  • Rapid response capability.
  • Physically fit and able to pass pre-employment and medical examinations/screening.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols while performing assigned tasks.
  • Manage designated geographical zones for effective alarm and incident responses.
  • Conduct vehicle and foot patrols within the assigned area.
  • Observe movement of people and equipment within the area of responsibility.
  • React to abnormal or suspicious conditions (alarms and incidents) and report to the Control Room.
  • Handle apprehensions and attend court cases as a witness when required.
  • Ensure all recoveries are properly recorded and managed according to procedures.
  • Maintain and account for all assigned tools such as firearms, torches, binoculars, etc.
  • Work jointly with public security and contractors as part of the convergence strategy.
  • Identify and report all safety and health hazards.
  • Perform administrative tasks including register completion and waybill checks.
  • Ensure compliance with VPSHR (Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights) and rules of engagement.
  • Manage crime scenes according to set procedures.
