1. Regional Head of Business & Operations

As Regional Head of Business & Operations, you’ll work closely with a Regional Director and report to the Director of International Business & Operations. You will ensure that bureaux across the region are safe, resilient, and strategically aligned to support world-class journalism. This role involves leading business operations across complex regions, including areas affected by conflict.

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership across the region to ensure delivery and performance of core business services.
• Partner with the Regional Director to align operations with editorial and commercial priorities.
• Drive operational efficiency and value for money.
• Lead digital transformation and innovation.
• Embed strong governance, risk management, and compliance across all bureaux.
• Support teams in high-risk environments with decisive leadership and focus on wellbeing.
• Manage regional property portfolio and vendor contracts.
• Lead and develop diverse, geographically dispersed teams.
• Champion sustainability and embed it into operational practice.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including trade unions.

Requirements:

• Significant experience in business operations, ideally in a global or media setting.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Sound understanding of financial planning and budget management.
• Expertise in governance, compliance, and risk management.
• Experience managing property, infrastructure, and supplier relationships.

2. Associate HRBP

Working as part of a centralised People Services team, you’ll be embedded within the Nairobi bureau supporting 2 International HR Business Partners (Africa and MENA). This is an opportunity to gain exposure to HR strategy, support day-to-day HR issues, and develop a wide range of HR skills.

Responsibilities:

• Support the International HR Business Partner in implementing solutions aligned to the people strategy.
• Work closely with International HRBPs to ensure tools and policies enhance employee engagement and performance.
• Collaborate across People Services and Centres of Excellence to deliver HR services.
• Act as a point of escalation for complex queries.
• Participate in projects to promote BBC’s reputation as a global organisation and employer of choice.
• Represent BBC HR internally and externally as appropriate.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in an HR generalist role (Specialist or Senior Advisor level).
• Confidence working in a matrix organisation and collaborative environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting Francophone regions and fluency in French.
• Experience in union environments and change management.
• Experience working with data, drawing insights, and supporting continuous improvement.
