Job Summary

The overall purpose of the position is to provide oversight for all financial management and reporting for the Kenya Country Office. The Finance Manager is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance management for all programs in the country. The role works closely with the Regional Corporate Services Director, program and finance staff, and the Head Office to ensure effective financial operations and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and serve as a resource to country program and finance staff on the NetSuite ERP (NICOR).
  • Review and finalize contracts and supporting documentation in the Contract Lifecycle Management system (CLM).
  • Prepare quarterly and annual forecasting and financial management reports on program spending.
  • Ensure compliance with NI policies for the release and approval of legal documents.
  • Update the Donor Database (DDB) with approved project budgets in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare and share monthly budget variance reports with the Country Director and project teams.
  • Verify that contract budgets and expenses align with approved budget allocations.
  • Coordinate and consolidate the Country Office’s annual program budget and assist in finalizing submissions.
  • Review and authorize staff travel authorizations (TAs) and expense reports (ERs) per the Delegation of Authority.
  • Review financial transactions, reconciliations, and reports before submission to the Regional Office.
  • Lead financial closures, including preparation of reports and reconciliations.
  • Extract, review, and analyze reports from NICOR to support financial decision-making.
  • Oversee office administration, including supplies, equipment, and administrative requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or related field with at least 8 years of experience in the development sector.
  • ACCA or CPA professional qualification is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years working as a Finance Manager.
  • At least 5 years of experience in program management, budgeting, and grant management.
  • Experience managing grants from donors such as Global Affairs Canada, FCDO, USAID, or BMGF is highly preferred.
  • Experience with databases and the NetSuite ERP is an advantage.
  • Experience in a national or international non-profit organization is preferred.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and work effectively under pressure.
