Job Summary

ABSA Bank seeks an experienced leader to drive the strategic delivery of the SME Customer Value Proposition, growing portfolio profitability, enhancing service standards, and managing a high-performing team. This role requires strong client-facing experience, risk awareness, and senior management expertise in financial services.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Service (30%)

  • Grow SME portfolio profitability through new and existing customer opportunities.
  • Formulate business development strategies aligned with market needs.
  • Communicate key messages to customers, including service standards, pricing, and product updates.
  • Monitor complaints, service quality, and competitive landscape.

Business Management (40%)

  • Provide credit recommendations and jointly manage portfolio risk with SME Credit Team.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the SME sector in Tanzania.
  • Monitor team performance against financial, sales, service, and operational targets.
  • Implement and monitor change initiatives within the team.

Staff Management (30%)

  • Lead and coach the SME Team to strengthen skills and service quality.
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage risk effectively, and ensure adherence to bank policies.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and proactively improve controls.

Education & Experience

  • Honors B.Sc. in Finance, Business Sciences, or related field (NQF Level 6 equivalent).
  • 10 years in Financial Services, including:
    • 5 years in client-facing banking roles
    • 3 years in senior management positions
