Job Purpose

  • Support financial planning, analysis, and reporting across Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent financial information across countries.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards and donor requirements.
  • Supervise and build capacity of country finance teams.
  • Report to the Regional Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Prepare and consolidate budgets at regional, country, donor, project, and activity levels.
  • Conduct variance analysis, forecasting, and performance reporting.
  • Ensure regional financial reports are accurate and submitted on time.

Supervision & Leadership:

  • Supervise Finance Officers in Tanzania and Uganda.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Promote harmonization and consistency of financial practices across countries.

Compliance & Control:

  • Approve expenditures and validate supporting documents.
  • Ensure compliance with IPAS (Tanzania), IFRS for SMEs (Uganda), and IFRS (Rwanda).
  • Support internal and external audits.

Data Management & Process Improvement:

  • Maintain analytical coding structures and use Excel for automation and reporting.
  • Consolidate, analyze, and present financial data.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
  • CPA, ACCA, CMA, CIMA, or equivalent professional certification required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial analysis, planning, and reporting, ideally in NGOs.
  • Experience with multi-donor, multi-country financial reporting and external audit readiness.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA, Pivot Tables, Data Validation).
  • Knowledge of ERP accounting software (Exact, Navision, or similar).
  • Understanding of donor financial procedures (EU, USAID, IFAD, DGD, World Bank).
  • Strong financial modelling, analysis, and reporting skills.

  • High analytical capacity, attention to detail, integrity, and discretion.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under strict deadlines.
