About the Role

Sun King is seeking a highly motivated Research Analyst to support the Vice President for Public Policy & Government Relations. This role will be instrumental in advancing engagement on energy access, electrification, and economic development policy across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and research capabilities, a solid understanding of economic and energy policy, and the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to support policy analysis, advocacy, and strategic development.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze datasets related to energy access, trade, and investment.
  • Utilize GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) for geospatial and infrastructure analysis.
  • Develop data visualizations, reports, and presentations for senior management and policymakers.
  • Monitor and analyze global and regional policy trends in energy, industrialization, and sustainable development.
  • Support preparation of policy briefs and background materials for meetings with governments, DFIs, and development partners.
  • Contribute to evidence-based policy recommendations and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data, communications, and operations teams to integrate findings into decision-making processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in research, policy analysis, or consulting.
  • Proficiency in Stata, R, Python, or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience with GIS platforms such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
  • Strong skills in data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills for both technical and general audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in energy access, renewable energy, and economic development.

Desired Attributes

  • Experience in household survey design and econometric modeling.
  • Familiarity with emerging markets, especially across Africa.
  • Understanding of global energy access and trade policies.
  • Ability to translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and curious, with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Fluency in English (French or Portuguese is an added advantage).
