Job Summary

Doulas by the Bay (DBB) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Certified Midwife with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in maternity care, labor, and birth support. The ideal candidate combines clinical expertise with teaching ability and will guide parents through childbirth preparation and postpartum education using DBB’s established teaching curriculum. This position involves delivering virtual sessions via Zoom to families across Africa.

Doulas by the Bay is a California-based maternal health organization dedicated to empowering families through evidence-based education, birth support, and postpartum care. Our mission is to make compassionate maternity education accessible worldwide through virtual learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate virtual classes on pregnancy, labor, and birth preparation via Zoom.
• Deliver lessons using Doulas by the Bay’s teaching curriculum, enhancing it with clinical insight and practical examples.
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based education about pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery.
• Collaborate with the doula and lactation teams to ensure continuity of care and holistic support for families.
• Respond to participants’ questions and provide personalized guidance in a professional and supportive manner.

Qualifications

• Certified Midwife (registered with a recognized or national midwifery board).
• At least 5 years of clinical experience in labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
• Previous teaching, facilitation, or training experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and connect with diverse families virtually.
• Reliable internet connection and proficiency with Zoom and basic digital tools.
• Strong passion for maternal and newborn health, education, and empowerment.

Schedule & Compensation

• Start Date: Immediate (orientation provided).
• Schedule: Part-time, with potential transition to full-time.
• Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and teaching hours.
