PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To provide technical support in occupational hygiene by conducting workplace surveys, sampling, and hazard analysis, monitoring exposure to physical, chemical, and biological agents, and assisting in implementing effective control measures to protect employee health and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or any related field.
Valid Tanzania driving license and proficiency in driving light vehicles.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years’ working experience as an Occupational or Industrial Hygienist, or as an Occupational Hygiene Technician.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Competent in handling and using occupational hygiene equipment.
Knowledgeable in occupational health and hygiene standards and regulations.
Ability to provide guidance and technical advice on occupational hygiene matters.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Familiarity with compliance and governance, including NOHSC 1 & 2 standards.
Team player with integrity, professionalism, and commitment to workplace safety.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Prepare dust filters, labeling, and conduct pre- and post-weighing in the gravimetric dust lab.
Use gravimetric pumps and sampling/measuring instruments in the field.
Maintain, operate, and calibrate various sampling and monitoring equipment.
Evaluate and interpret sampling results and develop corrective strategies.
Prepare accurate reports and recommend corrective actions for hazardous conditions.
Assess the long-term effects of exposure to health hazards and propose solutions.
Evaluate the effectiveness of engineering control methods and recommend improvements.
Ensure PPE compliance and adherence to Occupational Hygiene requirements.
Review operational procedures to identify health risks.
Assess workplaces for occupational hazards through observation, records, and sampling.
