Job Overview

Youth Challenge International (YCI) is seeking an experienced and passionate Operations and Finance Manager to oversee financial performance, procurement, human resources, and operations for the HerStart: Innovate the Future program in Zanzibar. This role is ideal for a strategic, detail-oriented professional eager to make a global impact through youth innovation and gender equality initiatives.


Position Details

Position Title: Operations and Finance Manager
Contract Length: 1 Year (Renewable)
Commitment: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Compensation: 3,600,000 TZS gross/month + Health Benefits
Start Date: November 2025

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee organizational systems, policies, and procurement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with local NGO and company regulations.
  • Support human resources functions including contracts, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Co-lead health, safety, and security risk management for all staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinate logistics for volunteer arrivals, accommodation, and visas.

Financial Management

  • Coordinate financial administration and ensure compliance with donor regulations.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports and manage project budgets.
  • Oversee annual budgeting and ensure adherence to work plans.
  • Identify financial risks and ensure compliance with national regulatory requirements.

Technical Support and Training

  • Provide technical training on finance, operations, and HR procedures.
  • Support daily project management and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with partners and volunteers to strengthen financial and operational capacity.

Volunteer Management

  • Supervise and mentor international volunteers to ensure professional growth and program impact.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in finance, operations, procurement, or HR.
  • Strong understanding of organizational accounting and financial systems.
  • Experience in sustainable community development or international NGOs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen or permanent resident (preference for Zanzibar residents).
