Ushirika wa Wakulima Wazabibu na Masoko Mpunguzi (UWAZAMAM) is an Agriculture Marketing Cooperative Society (AMCOS) registered in 2010 under the Cooperative Act. Our mission is to produce grapes, buy and process bulk wine and juice, and sell to different markets. Located in Mpunguzi Ward, Dodoma City, Tanzania, UWAZAMAM is a multiple award winner in the grape subsector and the leading AMCOS in Tanzania for buying and processing bulk wine. We are governed by a Board of Directors elected by the General Assembly.


Job Summary

The Project Officer is responsible for supporting the effective implementation, coordination, and monitoring of project activities in Matumbulu, Mpunguzi, and Nkulabi villages in Dodoma Region. This role involves close collaboration with project beneficiaries, donors, and other stakeholders in the grape value chain.

The Project Officer ensures that projects are implemented in accordance with contractual obligations and meet the highest standards of implementation, reporting directly to the Project Manager (PM).


Key Duties and Responsibilities

Project Planning & Implementation

  • Ensure effective planning, monitoring, and quality implementation of all planned activities
  • Develop annual project activity plans and update quarterly in collaboration with key departments
  • Oversee implementation to high standards by scope and timelines
  • Ensure participatory and transparent selection of beneficiaries

Market & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct regular market surveys, assessments, and mapping of agricultural actors/stakeholders in Dodoma
  • Identify and facilitate linkages between project participants and key agricultural stakeholders
  • Foster ongoing positive cooperation with stakeholders
  • Embrace links between market actors, producers, end users, and project participants

Technical Support & Capacity Building

  • Offer technical support to ensure integration of agricultural and sound agronomic practices into District Livelihood Action Plans
  • Promote use/adoption of modern farming practices and techniques through training and extension services
  • Advise farmers through farm visits and demonstrations
  • Transform targeted households from subsistence farming to commercial grape farming
  • Promote Climate Smart Agricultural technologies
  • Deliver agricultural training and resources through various media

Community Development & Partnerships

  • Support integration of gender and youth inclusion in all project activities
  • Work with relevant agencies, institutions, and individuals to promote food security
  • Build resilient livelihoods and self-reliance of participating communities
  • Ensure a gender perspective in all aspects of work
  • Maintain passion for youth development and inclusion

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Collect, collate, analyze, and report project data
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records
  • Prepare regular progress reports for stakeholders

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Development Studies, or any other relevant discipline

Knowledge & Experience

  • At least three years’ experience working with vulnerable communities
  • Familiarity with humanitarian programming and implementation
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in field-based programme management roles
  • Experience working in natural resources, environment, and food security with International NGOs or local government
  • Broad knowledge of sustainable natural resource management practices
  • Understanding of biodiversity, community participatory approaches, disaster risk reduction, climate change, and renewable energy technologies

  • Computer skills (MS Office, MS Excel, remote program support tools)
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with valid driving/riding license
