Job Summary

The Senior Payroll Accountant is responsible for administrative, technical, and reporting functions related to payroll and employee benefits. The role ensures accurate administration of compensation and benefits policies, compliance with relevant laws, and alignment with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure payroll accuracy by auditing pay authorizations and verifying wage deductions.
  • Manage payment of wages and salaries through the accounting system and prepare periodic payroll reports.
  • Review payrolls for compliance with company policies, minimum wage laws, TRA regulations, and Tanzania Labour Law requirements.
  • Maintain personnel and pay records to ensure accurate integration with payroll and benefits systems.
  • Administer policies for PAYE, NSSF, WCF, and other statutory bodies.
  • Prepare analyses for the Head of Finance regarding current costs, expenditures, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Utilize IT tools to maintain, retrieve, and analyze payroll data.
  • Stay updated on payroll, retirement, and benefits regulations to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Recommend changes in payroll policies and procedures as needed.
  • Maintain communication with department heads, MIS staff, and government agencies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional Accountant qualification (CPA or ACCA).
  • Minimum 2 years practical experience in payroll, accounting, employee benefits, or financial records.
  • Technical knowledge in taxation, accounting, and employee benefits.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and interpretation.
